What is TAT?
The Teacher Aptitude Test (TAT) is an examination conducted by the Gujarat State Examination Board (GSEB) for the recruitment of teachers in various subjects. The test is mandatory for candidates who wish to apply for teaching positions in government schools in Gujarat.
The New TAT Exam Pattern
The Gujarat government has recently issued a circular announcing a change in the TAT exam pattern. The new exam pattern will consist of two papers instead of one. Paper 1 will be for candidates who wish to teach students from classes 1 to 5, while Paper 2 will be for candidates who wish to teach students from classes 6 to 8.
Paper 1 will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying one mark each. The total time allotted for the exam will be two hours. The subjects covered in the paper will include child development and pedagogy, language I (Gujarati), language II (English), mathematics, and environmental studies.
Paper 2 will also consist of 100 MCQs carrying one mark each. The total time allotted for the exam will be two hours and thirty minutes. The subjects covered in the paper will include child development and pedagogy, language I (Gujarati), language II (English), mathematics and science, and social science.
Advantages of the New TAT Exam Pattern
The new TAT exam pattern has several advantages, both for the candidates and the government. Some of the advantages are:
- The new pattern will test the candidates’ subject knowledge and pedagogical skills more comprehensively.
- The division of the exam into two papers will make it easier for candidates to prepare and focus on the subjects they wish to teach.
- The new pattern will also reduce the burden on candidates, as they will have to appear for only one paper instead of two in case they wish to teach only one set of classes.
- The government can also streamline the recruitment process by conducting the exam for both papers on the same day, thus saving time and resources.
The introduction of the new TAT exam pattern is a step in the right direction for the education system in Gujarat. The new pattern will provide a more comprehensive evaluation of candidates’ subject knowledge and pedagogical skills, making the recruitment process more efficient and effective.
