A heritage cannon, about 3 feet long and weighing 300 kg, was stolen from the gate of Geo Mess of 82 Battalion of Armed Police in Sector 1 in Chandigarh. According to sources, this heritage cannon dates back to pre-independence and was kept near the gate for display.

ચંડીગઢમાં સેક્ટર 1 સ્થિત સશસ્ત્ર પોલીસની 82 બટાલિયનના જિયો મેસના ગેટમાંથી લગભગ 3 ફૂટ લાંબી અને 300 કિલો વજનની હેરિટેજ તોપની ચોરી થઈ છે. સુત્રોમાંથી મળતી માહિતી મુજબ આ હેરિટેજ તોપ આઝાદી પહેલાની છે અને તેને પ્રદર્શન માટે ગેટ પાસે રાખવામાં આવી હતી. આ તોપ લગભગ એક દાયકાથી અહીં છે. ચોરીના આ કેસમાં સેક્ટર-3 પોલીસ સ્ટેશને IPCની કલમ હેઠળ ગુનો નોંધી તોપ અને ચોરોની શોધ શરૂ કરી છે.

This cannon has been here for almost a decade. In this case of theft, Sector-3 police station has registered a case under the section of IPC and started searching for the cannon and the thieves.

Regarding this theft, local police say that this cannon is very heavy and no one person can steal it. It is suspected that 4 to 5 people are involved in this theft.

આ ચોરી અંગે સ્થાનિક પોલીસનું કહેવું છે કે આ તોપ ખૂબ જ ભારે છે અને કોઈ એક વ્યક્તિ તેને ચોરી શકે નહીં. આ ચોરીમાં 4થી 5 લોકોની સંડોવણી હોવાની આશંકા છે. ચોરીની આ ઘટના 5 અને 6 મેની રાત્રે બની હોવાનું જાણવા મળી રહ્યું છે. મળતી માહિતી મુજબ લગભગ 15 દિવસ પહેલા સબ-ઇન્સ્પેક્ટરને આ ચોરીની જાણ થઈ હતી. આ હેરિટેજ તોપ પંજાબ સશસ્ત્ર પોલીસની ખૂબ જ મહત્વપૂર્ણ ધરોહર હતી. લગભગ દોઢ વર્ષ પહેલા તેને 82 બટાલિયનના સ્ટોર રૂમમાં શિફ્ટ કરવામાં આવી હતી. જો કે બાદમાં તેને ફરી એકવાર લોકો સમક્ષ પ્રદર્શનમાં મૂકવામાં આવી હતી.
